BUILDING STRONG NETWORKS

& PARTNERSHIPS

NSU Partners with UVA's I-Corps Program

[November 2020] With supplemental support from National Science Foundation, the UVA I-CorpsTM Site is delighted to now partner with the Innovation Center at Norfolk State University in offering workshops to NSU students and faculty. These workshops provide both an introduction to customer discovery research as well as funding to support this research. All of the workshop sessions will be offered remotely using a virtual format.

Along with supporting basic research in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics [STEM], the
National Science Foundation also encourages researchers to convert their discoveries into new products
through its I-CorpsTM program. Since 2017, UVA has been an I-Corps
TM Site, offering workshops that help faculty, students, and staff in STEM and medical fields investigate the needs of customers and potential markets for new innovations.

The NSUIC is excited about this partnership and the benefits it will bring to our entrepreneurial community!

The NSUIC Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Ferguson Enterprises

[February 2020] The NSUIC facilitated Norfolk State University's first partnership with a Fortune 500 company, by establishing a Memorandum of Understanding with Ferguson Enterprises, the largest U.S. distributor of plumbing supplies, PVF, waterworks and fire and fabrication products and the third-largest distributor of industrial and HVAC/R products.

Ferguson supports the NSUIC's commitment to excellence and collaboration; the company has committed to sponsoring the NSUIC's hosting of a 3-day startup event and a 12-week business strategy and finance workshop series designed for early-stage businesses. Additionally, Ferguson will collaborate directly with NSU’s School of Business to host innovation and automation workshops that target students, faculty, and staff.

We look forward to collaborating on this important initiative for Norfolk State University, the Innovation Center, and our surrounding entrepreneurial community.
